2022 Update:

Town in still going strong and it’s one of our favorite restaurants on the Peninsula. Since the Covid pandemic, Town expanded their space to include a large covered area for outdoor dining. The last time we dined there, no reservations were being accepted. All tables inside and outside were first-come, first-serve. It’s very popular and crowded, especially during weekends and peak dining times, so be sure to arrive early.

Here’s our initial Town review:

Since Town first opened in March 2006 in the Tivoli Building on Laurel Street, it been one of the most popular restaurants in San Carlos. The casual, yet elegantly-styled dining room features cozy leather booth seating in a dark, clubby atmosphere. Noise levels can be high, so don’t come here for quiet intimate conversation. Dining outside is a great option if you want a quieter atmosphere – we actually prefer it!

Town has an impressive menu, featuring Dry-Aged Steaks & Chops, Hand-Cut Filet Mignon and Prime Rib, Premium Fresh Seafood, Wood-Fired Grill and Rotisserie Chicken and Ribs, House Specialties and local organic produce. Our favorite is the Teriyaki Skirt Steak (a House Specialty) atop Garlic Mashed Potatoes topped with Crispy Onion Rings, surrounded by Green Beans. Town’s Signature Cut features a 24 oz. Porterhouse Steak for larger appetites. Desserts are yummy too, especially their Warm Bread Pudding. Be sure to mention to the hostess or waitstaff if you are celebrating a special occasion, like a birthday or anniversary. They’ve always gone out of their way to make the evening a special one. The restaurant also offers an extensive selection of California, Washington and Oregon wines. We love their Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon.

Town is open daily for lunch and dinner. Reservations are recommended. Expect a wait if you don’t have a reservation. Street parking is available on Laurel Street. There’s also a free public parking lot at the rear of the restaurant. Service is friendly and efficient. Prices are moderate-expensive.

Note: Visit Town’s sister restaurants – Milagros (Mexican) in Redwood City and Nola (New Orleans Cajun) in Palo Alto.
