One of our favorite things to do when visiting New York (popular with locals too) is to take a Food-Tasting & Cultural Walking Tour – Foods of New York Tours offers some excellent ones, including Greenwich Village, Chelsea Market/Meatpacking District, SoHo, Chinatown… and more! We’ve taken their Greenwich Village and Chinatown Walking Tours and highly recommend them. What better way to explore the area, learn about its history, taste local specialties… and walk it all off! Of course, one of the best ways to see the city is by taking a “Hop-On-Hop-Off” Double-Decker Bus Tour – you can see everything on the first day of your trip, then go back to the places you want to spend more time visiting. The tour gives you the option of staying
on the bus, or hopping-on-and-off at your leisure.
For spectacular city views, visit the Top of the Rock Observation Deck at Rockefeller Plaza. Unobstructed for 360 degrees from the 70th floor, the breathtaking landscape stretches for miles in every direction. Day or night, this is a “must-see” during your trip to NYC.
Central Park is another fun place to hang-out, especially in the warm Summer months. There are miles of scenic hiking, biking and running trails. Rent a row boat, kayak, or take a romantic gondola ride on Central Park Lake. We had fun day celebrating one of our anniversaries at the park – we visited Belvedere Castle, rented a row boat (Barry did most of the rowing), then enjoyed a lovely lunch and a glass a of wine at the outdoor waterfront Bar & Grill – it was very romantic.
