We’d always thought of Calistoga as a quiet, laid back kind of town. However, after recently spending a few days visiting their luxury resorts and B&Bs, wine-tasting and touring four unique (appointment-only) wineries off the beaten track, experiencing a Royal Wine & Food Pairing at Castello di Amorosa, dining at fabulous restaurants any foodie would love, and indulging in a luxurious Couples Spa Treatment (mud bath, mineral pool and massage), Calistoga has taken on a whole new perspective for us – we can’t wait to go back again!

If you’re visiting San Francisco from out-of-town, plan a quickie one-day getaway to Napa Wine Country.  We love playing tourist for the day and driving up to Napa Valley (located about an hour north of SF). It’s one of our favorite getaways, especially now during the Harvest Season or “Crush” (when the grapes are picked) – late Summer into Fall (August-October).

Silver Oak Cellars Release Day & Grand Opening of New Oakville Winery, Napa Valley Wine Country – February 7, 2009

Celebrate the Release of Silver Oak’s highly praised 2004 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon — and the Grand Opening of their new Oakville winery.

Wine-tastings and purchases can be made at both Silver Oak Cellars’ wineries — in Oakville and Geyserville on Saturday, February 7th from 9am-3:30pm. Tickets are $30 per person.
