Have you ever fancied playing tourist for a day or weekend in your city? It’s always a lot of fun. No need to wait for out-of-town guests to enjoy taking in the sights, especially if you live in or near a beautiful city – and San Francisco is no exception.

So we decided to book a room at the Clift, a luxury boutique hotel nestled on Geary Street just steps from bustling Union Square – one of our favorite areas in SF. The hotel is conveniently located within easy walking distance to many wonderful restaurants, shops, bars, art galleries – and the Powell Street cable car line.
Pier 39’s festive Tree Lighting Ceremony and Santa always draws a crowd. The festive multi-cultural celebration showcases Christmas, Chanukah and Kawanzaa. Pier 39’s Holiday Harmony features Bay Area groups performing seasonal favorites from around the world. Pier 39’s Tree and its 400 ornaments, 500 multi-colored bows and 2,000 twinkling lights will be illuminated at 6:00pm each niight in the Entrance Plaza.
Pier 39 Summer Wine Pour features a fun evening of wine-tasting and live music. Tickets available online. 4pm-8pm.
Join in the fun and celebrate the anniversary of the Sea Lions’ arrival at Pier 39 in San Francisco. Free Sea Lion Encounter Walking Tours depart daily at 12 noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm from the Sea Lion statue near Pier 39’s entrance.
