For the first time in recent memory, this year’s World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay, CA featured all California-grown pumpkins – and the top three winning pumpkins were all from Napa, CA. Check out the winners below, including the Most Beautiful Pumpkin 2013.
Bring your kids along and join in the fun at Half Moon Bay’s “Super Bowl of Pumpkin Weigh-Offs.” The annual event takes place on Columbus Day (Monday, October 8, 2012 from 7am-11am), at the I.D.E.S. Grounds on Main Street in downtown Half Moon Bay.
What a difference a year makes! Last year’s World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay, CA took place on a beautiful warm, sunny day. Today, it was heavy mist, fog, cold and wet. But that didn’t dampen the spirits of the crowds – they turned out in droves. In fact, this year’s event seemed like the largest one ever!
And it was certainly one of the most exciting – Half Moon Bay weighed in two of their BIGGEST pumpkins and set two NEW California State records (for the winning pumpkin, pictured above, and the runner-up)!
Get ready to see some of the biggest pumpkins in California! Last year, Ron Root (of Citrus Heights, CA) took Top Prize. His winning Giant Pumpkin (pictured above) tipped the scales at an impressive 1,535 pounds – that’s a whole lot of pumpkin!
This year’s annual Half Moon Bay World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off takes place on Monday, October 10, 2011 from approximately 7am-11am at the I.D.E.S. Grounds on Main Street in downtown Half Moon Bay.
