Seattle’s natural scenic beauty, arts and culture, fresh seafood, gourmet restaurants, fun attractions and thriving waterfront make it a popular West Coast travel destination. The area is also known for its beautiful Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges. Seattle is the headquarters for Starbucks. The coffee houses seem to be everywhere in the city. Visit the original Starbucks, located near the waterfront in Pike Place Market. It opened in 1971 and today, it’s still going strong… no pun intended!

Fun Seattle Attractions

One of Seattle’s top landmarks and most popular attractions is the iconic Space Needle (pictured above). One of our favorite places is the bustling and historic Pike Place Market. It’s one of the city’s most popular attractions, visited by millions of tourists and locals every year. It’s the oldest continually operating Farmers Market in the country. Home to more than 300 shops and restaurants, it’s filled with farmers, craftspeople, street performers and musicians. The market is known for its variety of fresh seafood, regional fruits and vegetables, herbs and spices, imported and domestic cheeses, exotic foods, handmade arts and crafts, flowers, antiques and collectibles. It’s a fun place to hang out, shop and people-watch. Be prepared for crowds, especially during weekends and holidays.

Seattle is also home to one of the largest communities of floating homes in the world. The famous “Sleepless in Seattle” house boat is docked off Westlake Avenue on Seattle’s Lake Union. It continues to be one of the most asked about sites in Seattle. This house boat was Tom Hanks’ home in the romantic 1993 movie “Sleepless in Seattle.”

The Best Time To Visit Seattle

The best time to visit Seattle is between June-August, the driest and warmest months. Rainfall is heaviest between January-May and October-December. Wear layers so you can be prepared for any type of weather. And don’t forget to pack your umbrella.

Due to contrary opinion, Seattle does not have the highest rainfall in the nation. It’s just that it can be drizzly and overcast for nine months of the year. What’s nice about the area is that it is never really hot in the summer or cold in the winter.
