Little Italy is located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, near Chinatown. It extends as far south as Bayard Street, as far north as Bleecker, as far west as Lafayette, and as far east as the Bowery. Little Italy is a fun place to explore, eat, shop, and people-watch. The area is dotted with cute little Italian restaurants, bars and cafés. Stop by Ferrara Bakery & cafe, America’s oldest pasticceria. Located in the heart of Little Italy, Ferrara has been serving Italian and French desserts since 1892. Visitors and locals alike come here to enjoy a variety of delicious ice-creams, pastries. specialty coffees, lattes, and espressos.

“Feast of San Gennaro”

The “Feast of San Gennaro” is held annually in September in the heart of Little Italy. This fun street fair lasts for 11 days. It takes place along Mulberry Street, between Canal Street (to the South) and Houston Street (to the North); East to West on Grand and Hexter Streets (between Mott and Baxter Streets). New York City’s biggest and longest-running outdoor festival attracts over one million people from around the world. Enjoy delicious ethnic food and free live musical entertainment. The event also includes colorful parades, religious processions, arcade games, kiddie rides, and fun people-watching. And don’t miss their world-famous Cannoli-Eating Competition!

National Register of Historic Places

In 2010, Little Italy and Chinatown were listed in a single historic district on the National Register of Historic Places.
