Fleet Week San Francisco 2011 – Blue Angels Air Show & Parade of Ships

Fleet Week San Francisco 2011 celebrates the “Centennial of Naval Aviation.” The official Blue Angels Air Show takes place on Saturday and Sunday. The fun event features a Parade of U.S. Navy Ships, Survey Flights and Practice Air Shows, Blue Angels Air Shows, Ship Tours… and more! Get an early start if you’re driving into San Francisco over the weekend – the traffic and crowds are intense.

Last year, we arrived at the Marina Green early to see the Parade of Ships in San Francisco Bay. Afterwards, we were invited to a private Fleet Week rooftop party atop one of  the buildings in the Marina and got a bird’s eye view of the Blue Angels as they flew overhead and across the bay – you just can’t beat the Golden Gate Bridge as a backdrop, especially on a warm sunny day! FYI… it was HOT last year, so be sure to wear layers.

Best viewing locations include the Marina Green, Aquatic Park, Pier 39, Muni Pier and the San Francisco waterfront. Special Flight Deck Club VIP seats are available at the Marina Green; Premium Box Seats (reserved seats along the waterfront) are also available. Private Chalets are sold out.

Air Show aerial performers include the Blue Angels, Canadian Snowbirds, The Patriots Jet Team and more! Check out the first ship due to arrive under the Golden Gate Bridge is the USS Carl Vinson, at approximately 11am on Saturday, October 8.

Enjoy a fun cruise on San Francisco Bay. Take advantage of the best views and festivities as you witness the Blue Angels perform their spectacular air show acrobatics while you cruise the stunning San Francisco Bay on this patriotic weekend. What could be more fun, especially on a beautiful October day!

Are you planning on going to this year’s Fleet Week? Will you be a spectator along the SF waterfront, taking a cruise on the bay, or attending a rooftop party?  Share some of your past Fleet Week stories (make a comment below).

  1. I have been surfing on-line more than three hours these days, but I by no means discovered any attention-grabbing article like yours. It’s beautiful price enough for me. In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers made just right content as you did, the internet will probably be a lot more useful than ever before.
