“The mountains are calling and I must go.”
– John Muir
The Rocky Mountains stretch more than 3,000 miles from British Columbia, in Canada, to New Mexico, in the U.S. The highest peak is Mount Elbert, in Colorado. Colorado is a fun place to visit – year round – especially if you like the great outdoors. Two of our favorite Colorado destinations are Denver and Boulder.
Fun Denver and Boulder Attractions & City Sightseeing Tours
Denver is known as the “Mile High City” because its official elevation is exactly one mile – or 5,280 feet (1,609 meters) above sea level. Located at the base of the Rocky Mountains, it’s no surprise that Denver’s biggest draw is the great outdoors – it is home to more than 200 parks, historic rock formations, three major sports stadiums, championship golf courses and fabulous ski resorts.
In addition to it’s world-class cultural attractions – and the nation’s second largest Performing Arts Center (New York City’s Lincoln Center is the largest) – Denver also has amusement and water parks, fine museums, specialty shops, fun restaurants, and a state-of-the-art aquarium.
Fun Boulder Attractions & City Sightseeing Tours
Words just don’t begin to describe Boulder’s spectacular natural beauty – it is one of the most scenic destinations in Colorado. Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Boulder is located approximately 35 miles northwest of downtown Denver. Boulder sits at 5,400 feet above sea level – some of its hiking and mountain trails climb 7,000-10,000 feet. As you can imagine, the views are incredible. Fun Boulder attractions include: Boulder Canyon, Boulder Falls, The Flatirons, Flagstaff Mountains, Chautaugua Park, Boulder History Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, Pearl Street Mall, and Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat.

Winters are cooler, with plenty of snow – all the better for skiing and snowboarding. Ski season typically runs from mid-November to mid-April.
In Boulder (like Denver), the sun shines over 300 days a year. Based on its proximity to the mountains, Boulder’s winters are relatively mild, however expect ample amounts of snow.
