Buckingham Palace is one of the most famous palaces in the world. It’s the official London residence of Her Majesty, The Queen of England. Located in Westminster, in the heart of London, this top tourist attraction is visited by millions of people every year. Visitors can tour the iconic palace’s State Rooms, stroll through its magnificent gardens and watch the Changing of the Guard.

We highly recommend taking a guided tour of Buckingham Palace’s State Rooms and its incredible Palace Garden. It’s not every day you get to explore one of the most famous castles in the world.

The State Rooms

The State Rooms are only open to the public for a limited time during the Summer months (by appointment only). Visitors to Buckingham Palace enter the State Rooms by walking up the palace’s Grand Staircase. It’s a magnificent sight.

The White Drawing Room

The White Drawing Room is the grandest of all the State Rooms. The rooms are lavishly furnished with some of the finest treasures from the Royal Collection, including paintings by Van Dyck and Canaletto, porcelains, sculptures, and some of the world’s finest English and French furniture. 

The Picture Gallery

The Picture Gallery displays some of the most prized paintings in the Royal Collection. See priceless works of art by Rembrandt, Rubens, Holbein, Van Dyck,  Canaletto and Vermeer.

The Throne Room

The Throne Room features throne chairs used during the coronation ceremonies of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, King George VI and Queen Victoria.

The Ballroom

The Ballroom is the largest of the State Rooms. Today, the opulent Ballroom is used primarily for official purposes, including investitures and State Banquets.

Palace Garden

The beautiful Palace Garden is where The Queen holds her Summer Garden Parties. Stroll through the garden after your guided palace tour. Note: Access to the garden is for daylight tours only; not evening tours). 

The Royal Mews

The Royal Mews, one of the finest Working Stables in existence, features a permanent display of State Vehicles, including the Gold State Coach used for Coronations, and Carriages used for Royal and State occasions, State Visits, Weddings and the State Opening of Parliament. A State Motor Vehicle is also usually on display. Most of the year, you can also see up to 30 Carriage-Horses which play an important role in The Queen’s official and ceremonial duties. Open February-November. Entry by timed ticket.

The Queen’s Gallery

The Queen’s Gallery is a permanent space dedicated to changing exhibitions of items from the Royal Collection, a collection of art and treasures held in trust by The Queen for the nation. Entry by timed ticket.
