Palace of Fine Arts Lagoon in San Francisco

The Palace of Fine Arts Lagoon in San Francisco finally reopened in November 2006. The lagoon area is known for famous films, pictures, weddings, people watching and picnics.

The lagoon went through a $6 million upgrade the last few years.  During the upgrade the city erected an ugly chain link fence around the lagoon that is now finally gone

The Palace of Fine Arts was created in 1915 for the Panama Pacific International Exposition. It is one of the most photographed places in the world.

When Alana and I first met, we would go to the lagoon area to spend the day in the sun, picnic, read, feed the ducks and swans, watch the weekend weddings and just relax. We visited the lagoon last week and it was just beautiful.  Great job San Francisco!
